FileSonic Tutorial:
WARNING: Please note that I am not responsible for anything that could go wrong with this the process of uploading your files to the FileSonic server. Remember that nothing on the Internet is 100% secure. There is personal information on your MRI images--your name and birthdate--that others might be able to view if they somehow (which I doubt) hacked into this server. Although I've never had a problem with this in the past. If you feel at all hesitant about this method of getting me your MRI disk, then perhaps it is best to just stick them in the mail. Also remember, if you do mail them and want them back, you MUST INCLUDE A SELF ADDRESSED, POSTAGE PAID ENVELOPE. I can then put them in the mail in order to get them back to you.

The first thing we need to do is locate our compressed file on the desktop. Windows 7 seems to name it Autorun.zip ( although it might be named something else). |

The next thing we must do is go to www.filesonic.com and create an account.
|

There are two options: you can create a free account or you can pay $9.99 and have an account for 30 days. This "premium account" ostensibly gives you better upload and download speeds as well as other features. Most of the patient just use the free account with works quite well for our purposes. The only difference (that affects what we are trying to accomplish) between the free and the $9.99 month account is "download links." More specifically, if you buy an account, then (once you have uploaded the files to the site) you will be able to get and give out links to your file so others can download them. [for example, you would simply e-mail me a link to your MRI file and I would download it]. If you use the free service, in order for me to download your MRI file, you will have to give me your user name and password. Then I log on and download the MRI file from there. |

After you set up either the free or $9.99 account, you will be taken to the file manager, which looks like the picture to the left. Next all you do is click the "upload button," which the giant red arrow is pointing at.
|

After clicking the "upload" button, the picture to the left will appear. Then all you do next is click the button that the red arrow is pointing to. (i.e., click the "choose files to upload.") |

By clicking the "Choose Files to Upload" button, you will get the picture on the left. Then all you have to do is click on the "desktop" icon, which in turn will show all the files on your desktop. These desk top files appear in the right part of the screen. |

Now all you do is scroll through the files on your desktop until you see the file that we previously created from your MRI disk. Remember mine was called AutoRun.zip-yours may be called something else. Once you've found it, simply double-click on it. Double clicking on it will bring up the next program-- see below. |

Now all you do is double click the upload button and you're off to the races. |

This is what you will see as your file is uploading. Make sure you keep an eye on the upload speed (tip of red arrow). In this example things are working just fine (15% has been uploaded at a speed of 89.47 kb per second). I've had trouble occasionally, however, with the upload speed dropping to zero, which means nothing is uploading. If the speed doesn't pick up within 5 minutes, you will have to go back and click the upload button again to start over. If the same thing happens a second time, that means the server is very busy and its best to try a little later in the day. [Works perfectly for me in the late evening.] |

This means 100% of your file has been uploaded onto there server. If you did the $9.99 account, then all you have to do is e-mailing me a link to those files, so I can download them. If you did the free account, you will have to e-mail me your user name and password, so I can log on and download the file. |

If you have the $9.99 account, here's the procedure for getting me a link to your images. |
![]() |
The red arrow is pointing to the link that I need in order to download your MRI files. All you do, of course, is highlight that link, copy it, and paste it in an e-mail to me at chirogeek@chirogeek.com. OR you can simply hit the e-mail button (yellow arrow), which makes it easy for you.(see below picture). |

This is what appears when you hit the e-mail button. All you do is put my e-mail address (chirogeek@chirogeek.com) in the "friends e-mail" box and then hit the "send e-mail" button ( yellow arrow). |
