The Colorado Medical Treatment Guidelines for Chronic Pain Disorder: In order to further support this chronic pain patient’s procured chiropractic care (which has been rendered secondary to exacerbations of the chronic pain syndrome), the Colorado Medical Treatment Guidelines for Chronic Pain Disorder (“CTGCP”) allow for continued manipulation of a chronic pain patient who has suffered an exacerbation of his chronic pain. More explicitly, Section F, subsection (14)(d)(pg.81) states, in relevant part:

Extended durations of care beyond what is considered “maximum” may be necessary in cases of re-injury, interrupted continuity of care, exacerbation of symptoms, and in those patients with comorbidities.”

And:

“Frequency: 1 to 2 times per week for the first 2 weeks as indicated by the severity of the condition. Treatment may continue at 1 treatment per week for the next 6 weeks.”

Therefore, up to 10 chiropractic visits are supported per such exacerbation. Since this patient has suffered several exacerbations of symptoms just before and during my care, the procured chiropractic care was supported by CTGCP.
