Disclaimer: please understand that I am no longer a practicing doctor of chiropractic-- I have retired in 2010 after 23 years of practice in order to try medical school, which turned into an employment offer I could not refuse: Spine Research Coordinator at a well know nonprofit research institute (see below). Therefore, any opinions that I offer are not to be construed as medical advice or chiropractic advice or have any connection to the Steadman Philippon Research Institute--just my own personal opinions as a layperson, with 23 year of past experience in treating patients with spine pain as a licensed doctor of chiropractic as well as approximately 10 years of experience working for the state of California evaluating and rating injured workers for disability. Therefore any opinions I offer, should be discussed with your primary health care provider before implementing them.

If you are confused about your pain and which treatment intervention to try, why not schedule an E-MAIL, Telephone or Skype Coaching Session with me in order to discuss your problem(s) and formulate a plan of action in hopes of getting rid of that damn pain and get you back to the life you once enjoyed.

Scheduling is easy! All you need do is contact me via e-mail, and then we can set something up--I can usually get you in within a day or two-- even the same day if you're in a rush.

In order for me to better understand your problem, it's always helpful for me to see a copy of your latest MRI, CT and/or X-ray Disk (or at the very least a copy of the report). You can either send me the disk via US or international mail: us this address:

Or (the preferred method) you can upload it to any free Web Server (I use SendThisFile.Com) so that I may it download it. This method is not very hard; I have set up a detailed tutorial on how to accomplish it: How to Upload My MRI].

Once I receive your MRI or whatever you want me to review, I will e-mail you that I am ready. After you pay my fee for talking with you, which I prefer to be done via PayPal, we can set the time and date of our conversation / coaching session. If you do not feel comfortable with PayPal, you can send a check or money order as well. However, I will not schedule your session until your check has cleared.

Home Work: in order to get the most out of our conversation, it is helpful for me to have knowledge of your current level of functional disability. This can be accomplished by completing a simple outcome disability tool and e-mailing me the result. If you have low back pain and/or leg pain, please complete the Oswestry Disability Index, which can be downloaded here. If you have neck pain, please complete the Neck Disability Index, which can be downloaded here.

What To Expect: Typically our conversation lasts 40-50 minutes and starts by you giving me a history of your injury (how did this all begin?) and treatment (did you try medication, injections, surgery?). But, even before her conversation, I typically spend an hour picking pertinent images from your MRI Disk which I will use to teach you what has gone wrong with your disks/and or spine. I can deliver this tutorial to you in a couple of ways: I can create a webpage and e-mail you a private link [here is a recent example {with permission}], create a word document or create a PDF. The former and latter are the most secure; however, the webpage is easier for me to make although there is a chance that the Google robot will put pictures of your images up in Google images (if this happens, you don't have to worry because none of your identifying information is on any of these images – I remove everything). Then we talk about what to do about the problem. In closing, you can ask any question you so desire, and I shall do the best I can to give you an educated answer based upon my personal experience of suffering chronic back pain and sciatica, my 23 year chiropractic career, my 10 years as a State appointed qualified medical examiner, 20 years as an independent disability evaluator, thousands of hours of research, and now my new career as director of spine research for a prestigious nonprofit research institute: the Steadman Philippon Research Institute.

No Doctor Patient Relationship: it is also important for you to understand that this is a coaching session and not a doctor/patient consultation/evaluation and under no circumstances are we forming a doctor / patient relationship. If you desire some kind of report, I can certainly do that (see below), but remember it will have limited weight since I am probably not licensed in your state.

Phone consultations have become very popular in these days of managed care, for many HMO doctors simply fail to adequately explaining things to their suffering patients--either they don't have the time or don't understand the complexity of current pain theory. That is, they rush through the appointment without really explaining why the patient has the pain and what the available treatment options are. Even more annoying, they also often fail to show and/or adequately explain the results of the patient's medical testing; i.e., the results of MRI, CT, and EMG/NCV.

This is where I come in: I am up-to-date with the latest research on spine-related problems and may have some treatment recommendations that your doctor has never even heard of! After some time with me, you will definitely be able to speak to your doctor on a higher level and make a more informed decision about the management of your pain. And finally, having been a chronic pain patient myself -- secondary to a failed discectomy in 2003 -- I offer a rare and unique insight into chronic pain that most doctors have no clue about, for if you haven't lived through the horror of chronic pain, you just don't understand and will never be able to fully understand it! TYPICAL PHONE CONSULTATION: ($100.00 for 40-50 minutes) *Please note: my minimum is $100 / hour. That fee is in effect whether we spend 20 minutes speaking (which has never happened) or 50 minutes speaking. Also, you cannot break this fee /time up into two parts.

Image Usage / Licensure Fee:

I am now offering the use of any of the images on this site that I have created (which is most of them) for use in presentations, books, articles etc. Please e-mail me with your requested for use, and be sure to include which image(s) you would like to use for your project.

Medical Report Service:

Back by demand, I am now offering clients my skill of Medical-Legal Report Writing. I have been certified as a Independent Disability Evaluator (since 1992) and was a State-Appointed Qualified Medical Evaluator for most of the 1990s and again from 2004 through 2010, during which time I have written over 200 of these giant, 30-page medical-legal reports--none of which (to my knowledge) were ever rejected by the WCAB secondary to errors in methodology--and boy were some of these complex.

What I'm offering here is a greatly pared down version--usually 5-7 pages, but will contain all pertinent information including images from your MRI pasted into it with arrows pointing out just where the pathology is. I also support my opinions with a barrage of references from the medical literature. [Here is a recent example {by permission} of a $300.00 report, which includes short coaching session. It is in .pdf format].

Warning: although these reports have help some of my clients with disputes in Workers Compensation, Personal Injury and Military hearings, I can NOT guarantee they will count for anything in the legal arena--since I'm not licensed in states other than California at the current time [April 2012].

In accord with HIPAA, none of the information you provide me before, during, or after any communication with me, including your e-mail(s), phone numbers and/or address, will not be discussed or shared with anyone without your explicit written approval. Any MRI / CT / X-ray disks or films, or anything else that you provide me prior to our coaching session, will either be returned (see return policy above) or destroyed within 30 days. Your private webpage that I often create from pertinent images from you scans will contain absolutely no identifying information (in other words, no one will know that these images are yours) and will be left up for your viewing for approximately 30 days unless you want to left up longer which I can do per your request. All payment is made through PayPal: please read their privacy/security statements if you have any questions about that (PayPal privacy).
